Intaglio: Intaglio is a printmaking process in which lines and textures are scratched, carved or etched with acid, typically into a metal plate. Ink is then pressed onto the plate and the surface wiped clean. It is than transfered to paper using a press. These prints use the techniques of etching, drypoint, and engraving. I love intaglio for the rich range of values and textures it invites, from soft, almost imperceptible tones to deeply gouged black lines.
